The Wall
I bought tickets to the wall, having seen the wall Nation of Language several times but never in its entirety. So, the wife could come as well, I bought 'mid-priced' 250.00 tickets x2. The effects were great as well, but what I found a bit disturbing was all the propaganda Nation of Language puts out there and some of the messaging during the songs. I thought the music was great, for example, this floating pig at every show, but this time it says something like 'capitalism' and shows a guy with a gun next to someone's head. Never mind the 60.00 shirts that probably cost 2.00 to make. Seems contradictory for someone selling tickets for up to 750.00 to be complaining about capitalism. What does that have to do with the wall? Then during 'bring the boys back home,' there's images of soldiers carrying babies and starving people in some third world country. Look at Darfour, Rwanda, etc., where genocide takes place. Is that ok? I mean, yes, I think people starving is not good or people adversely affected by war is bad, but who's to say these people are worse off by us being there or that this would happen anyway. I mean, I just didn't think the message was appropriate. Should have left it at WWII references. Then, what the hell is with all the dead people on the wall? His father's death is one of the 'bricks in the wall,' like other soldiers getting killed. I know that soldiers are a theme of the wall, but, again, imho not relevant, and actually, other people I talked to thought it was pretty disturbing. I did love the show, though. I am not saying I'm complaining about the cost, these are more comments, and had nothing to detract from the awesome stage show and music.
